The Friends of Watermans Park Summer Bandstands season continues this Saturday 20 July from 4pm to 6pm in Watermans Park.

This Saturday will feature:

Elaine Samuels - who began performing in folk clubs at the age of only 13, getting a mention in the local press after her first spot in public as “one to watch”. In the 1990s, she began touring solo, up and down the length of the UK & was featured at clubs, festivals, on radio and several times on television. She released three solo albums before forming the first incarnation of her folk-rock Kindred Spirit Band, with whom she has released a further six albums and notably performed at Glastonbury Festival, Liverpool's famous Cavern Club and Cambridge Rock Festival to name a few.

Steve Hutchinson – is London's late bloomer. Melodic soft rocker Steve Hutchinson started his music career later than most - 50 to be precise! But he's been making up for lost time, fronting the UK's premier Moody Blues tribute band for 7 years and, since 2014, releasing 5 solo albums. Described by Moody Blues Legend Ray Thomas as having "a great voice", Steve is that rare combination - a singer who will touch your heart with songs that will stir your soul.

Mathew Champney – who will be playing solo is a member of The Mighty Fallen, an exciting live band, a recording force whose lineup is as varied as the music they produce. From melodic flowing riffs to short sharp rock with a definite funky side, it is hard to pigeonhole. Mat is without doubt the driving force and main composer in the band and his mildly eccentric nature and enviable zest for life is evident throughout his music.

Marky Dawson - the charismatic showman Marky Dawson with a huge voice will be covering Musical Theatre, Jazz and Rock - alongside piano chops which could make Jerry Lee Lewis blush.

As well as music Ghislaine Walker from Tales in Style will be telling stories suitable for all ages. These tales will be inspired by the water & summer celebrations.

Edwin Addis will host the Summer Bandstand. Edwin has written and recorded a theme tune for the park - A Walk Through Watermans Park (Come Out to Play) which he'll be sure to perform.

Musicians lined up for the last Saturday in July include Myriam Cavelli, Kate Bushra and Ed Hopwood.

The Friends of Watermans Park's main aim is to help protect, conserve and enhance Watermans Park, its environs and access to the River Thames for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.

It was formed by a group of local people who envisage a vibrant community amenity which can host community events as well as an attractive recreational area for all. If you would like to get involved contact Philip Jones at chair@friendsofwatermanspark.org.
