Ban on left turn from A4 removed but operational hours extended

With now just a year to go, Transport for London is continuing to consult on temporary changes to the way some roads will operate for the London 2012 Games next summer.

The Olympic Route Network (ORN) will run from A4 Chiswick Roundabout to Gliddon Road to provide a link to the Earls Court Olympic competition venue.

The Paralympic Route Network (PRN) will facilitate movements between Heathrow Airport, the outer London venues and Paralympic events in the Olympic Park and River Zone area.

TfL undertook an 'engagement exercise' between 8 March and 29 March 2011 for the section of ORN from A4 Chiswick Roundabout to Gliddon Road. After considering the feedback from those who took part in the exercise, TfL has decided to remove the banned left turn from the A4 into Gliddon Road.

In addition, following a request from the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), TfL will increase the A4 Games Lane operational hours from 06:00 to 19:00 to 06:00 to 20:00, to coincide with the latest competition times.

A formal consultation period will take place as part of the process of introducing Traffic Regulation Orders, which are required by law to enforce the proposed changes.
