Ruth Cadbury remains the MP for Brentford and Isleworth after the General Election this Thursday (4 July) despite a drop of over 9,000 in the number voting for her.

She received 20,007 votes representing 44.2% of those cast putting her less than 10,000 ahead of the Conservative's Laura Blumenthal in second place.

Ms Cadbury had been expected to benefit from boundary changes which saw the Chiswick wards formerly in the constituency transferred out to be replaced by parts of Whitton but Labour saw a reduction of 6.1 percentage points in its vote share. For the last two elections it had won over half of the votes cast. This still represents significant progress for Labour since 2015 when Ms Cadbury narrowly won the seat from the Conservatives.

The big gainers on the night were Freya Summersgill for the Greens who attracted 4,029 votes to see a 5.6 percentage point increase in vote share and Reform UK for which David Kerr increased its vote by 6.6 percentage points to finish in fourth. Nisar Malik, for the Workers Party of Britain, which campaigned mainly on the issue of Gaza, received 6.1% of the votes.

The most disappointing performance came from the Liberal Democrats for which Kuldev Sehra saw a 7.8 percentage point drop in vote share to finish fifth.

There were 45,473 ballots representing a 57.3% turnout from the electorate of 79,423
