Details of property transactions in the local area
The property market in Brentford remains sluggish compared to other parts of West and South West London which are seeing good recoveries. Volume in the local are is still very thin with only 20 transactions reported so far for the fourth quarter of 2009. Prices are up so far in the fourth quarter with the average sale taking place at £285,325 up from £252,926 but the low number of transaction make it difficult to reach a firm conclusion about the level of the market. The Land Registry's House Price Index for England and Wales in November showed prices were up by 0.9% during the month bringing the decline down to 0.3% compared to the same period last year. The figures show that London property is continuing to recover the most rapidly. Prices in the capital are now up by 3.5% compared with the same month last year and rose by 2% in November alone. The average house price in London is £324,231. Right Move's House Price index, which is based on offered prices rather than sales prices, is showing that prices have moved down again during the winter.
