Brentford's Watermans Gardens set to receive a £60,000 facelift.

Brentford's Watermans Gardens are set to receive a £60,000 facelift, funded by money from local developments.

Under a wide programme of refurbishmet, new bins, seats and picnic benches will be installed in the gardens, located beside Watermans multipurpose arts centre on Brentford's High Street.

The scheme also will include the improvement of garden beds, the removal of overgrown shrubberies and theupgrading of special features in the gardens.

"The existing space is somewhat intimidating, with overgrown shrubs and limited garden furniture," said Nick Pratt, Hounslow Council's head of leisure and cultural partnerships.

"This major refurbishment programme will make the gardens more attractive and inviting, encouraging more people to enjoy them more often."

Work will begin on the site this week and will involve the use of heavy machinery.
