A landmark office building in Brentford could be converted into flats if an application (PAC/2024/3781) submitted to Hounslow Council is approved.

Permission is being sought for a change of use of the 12-storey Vantage London building into 178 flats. It is situated by Chiswick Flyover and next to Gunnersbury Park and Gunnersbury Cemetery.

There would be no change in the height of the building.

The application is being made by a Luxembourg based company called Infinity Resolution (Vantage) S.À.R.L which wants to develop flats for sale. Given the nature of the application there is no requirement for it to have an affordable component.

148 of the flats will be studios, 17 one bedroom and 13 two bedroom.

The number of parking spaces at the site would be reduced from 191 to 168 with 210 cycle parking spaces added.

A report into the impact on local transport of the switch to residential submitted by the application says that it is expected to lead to a decrease of approximately 233 and 256 person trips in the AM and PM peak hours respectively.

The application states that, if approved, construction would begin next year with a view to completion in February 2028.

The building was originally constructed in the late 1960s and early 1970s as the headquarters for Beecham Pharmaceuticals. Beecham vacated the Brentford building as part of Glaxo Smith Kline’s corporate realignments.

The building underwent significant refurbishment and was renamed Vantage London and transformed into a multi-tenant office building with 14,922 sqm GIA of commercial floorspace. In 2016 it had another significant refurbishment with upgrades to communal areas including the café. Tenants have included Agfa Films, Metropolis International and Cineworld

Vantage London was purchased by Resolution Properties in 2019 for a reported £30million.

The consultation period on the application continues until 6 January and comments can be made on the Hounslow Council web site by searching using the reference: PAC/2024/3781.
