The big striker netted his sixth goal of the season with a header on 29 minutes after good work from loanee Dean Bowditch following a driven Ryan Dickson free kick.

Bowditch was himself denied a goal by a great save from Luton keeper Conrad Logan who also foiled Dickson and Macdonald with smart stops.

Andy Scott made two changes from Saturday's home draw with Darlington - replacing injured skipper Adam Newton with Nathan Elder (with Bowditch switching wide right) and Sam Wood coming in for Glen Poole, with Ryan Dickson pushing into midfield.

Luton were reduced to ten men late in the game when Keith Keane was sent off for a foul on Charlie Macdonald which was judged to be a professional foul despite claims from the home team that there were covering defenders. The Hatters best chances mainly came from long distance shots.

Bees - Hamer, Osborne, Wood, Bennett, Phillips, Bowditch, Bean, O'Connor, Dickson, Elder, Macdonald

Subs not used - Pead, Poole, Anderson, Johnson, Ademola
