Brentford and Syon Area Forum To Hear Leisure Centre Update |
|
Agenda also includes briefing on traffic and transport
November 28, 2024 There will be a chance to get an update on the situation with the Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre at the next Brentford and Syon Area Forum Meeting. It is one of the agenda items for the meeting on Monday 2 December at 7:30pm at the Brentford Free Church, Boston Manor Road, Brentford (TW8 8DW). Cllr Dan Bowring will be giving a presentation scheduled to last 15 minutes on the latest information on the centre and may address concerns about the continuing uncertainty around how long the facility will remain open. Regular users of the centre have expressed concerns that it could close in the near future with no timetable set for its replacement. £983,000 has been allocated to appoint an architect to do a feasibility study into the options for the development of a new leisure centre preferably on the same site. An additional £285,000 is being spent to address issues which potentially could lead to the closure of the centre if not dealt with. In addition, there will be a presentation on traffic and transport strategy in the borough, TfL bus routes and traffic light phasing led by Finn Campbell There will also be the usual Open Forum which provides an opportunity for members of the public to address the meeting on general issues whether on the agenda or not. The date of next scheduled meeting of the Brentford and Syon Area Forum is 5 March 2025 at a venue to be confirmed. Area Forums have become an important part of the way that Hounslow Council tries to engage with residents. The forums are held across the borough, split up by electoral ward.
