A Day of Fun for all the family (and the dog) promised
This year's Brentford Festival takes place in Boston Manor Park on Sunday 3rd September between 12 midday and 5.30pm.
Organisers the Friends of Boston Manor Park are putting the finishing touches to a day which will offer plenty to do.
As the event is on the Ealing/Brentford border and the Mayors of both Ealing and Hounslow will be jointly opening the event.
We have 8 bands/solo artists who want to perform. You can hear some of them here http://www.fobm.org.uk/Events.htm#Festival06 They are mostly new to us but we also have the jazz band who played last year and three rock groups.
The two Mayors opening the event are the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Diana Pagan, and the Mayor of Hounslow, Councillor Felicity Barwood. There will also be officials from the Brentford Chamber of Commerce.
The park has been award a Green Flag for high standards and they will be raising it on the flag pole (in the centre of the lawn at the front of the Boston Manor House) to replace the one they won last year, following the opening ceremony on the stage.
The Mayors will be met and guided from their cars at the front of Boston Manor House (by drummers) to the main stage by the Sealed Knot who are holding a civil war camp all afternoon. At roughly 3 p.m. the person who pulls the appropriate winning ticket will be allowed to fire the cannon!!
The Festival will end with Songs of Praise and, very possibly, gospel singing.
Activities include:
- live music from two stages
- demonstration from the Sealed Knot society
- traditional fair ground
- exquisite craft stalls
- Pimms and beer tent
- delicious food
- dog training
- car boot
- pavilion teas and cakes
- songs of praise
- Brentford Football Club and Boston Manor Tennis Club offering free coaching.
Anyone wishing to take part in the car boot sale - or help deliver flyers - should call Linda Massey on 07831 106973
