Brentford
FC have signed the biggest sponsorship deal in the club's history
for one of the biggest advertising sites in the country.
They
have secured a three year sponsorship worth £375,000 from
Qatar Airlines for the roof over the Braemar Road stand - directly
over the landing path for many flights to Heathrow Airport.
The
deal will come as a releif to local residents, whose gardens were
being covered by flakes of paint from the roof, shown in our photo
still bearing the logo of the previous sponsors Infograms. Tests
by Hounslow Council had indicated the possibility that the flaking
paint was lead-based, posing a serious threat to health - however
more recent tests had shown the risk to be smaller.
These
problems should disappear with the announcement of the new deal.
The club have already received £75,000 to pay for sealing
of the old design and repainting of the new advertisement. When
this is completed, the airline will make the first of three payments
of £100,000.
Commenting
on the new partnership, Brentford FC Chairman Eddie Rogers said,
"This is tremendous news. We are pleased to be associated with
such a progressive and ambitious company as Qatar Airways"
