New places needed
To make sure there is enough room for children when they reach school age, the council is currently looking at how to meet the extra demand, and at the same time improve the condition of school buildings. To try to make sure places are provided where parents want them a series of meetings to discuss the proposals are currently taking place at schools across the borough, and it is important parents take the chance to have their say. Any changes would take place at the beginning of the new school term in September 2010. Hounslow Council is consulting from 21 January to 1 March. Please visit the consultations area of the council's website to read more and to complete the online questionnaire or email your views to ppu@hounslow.gov.uk In recent years, Brentford has seen a significant number of new homes being built and there are plans for more in the future. As much of this housing is one and two bedroomed, a modest increase in demand for school places is expected. Projections for Brentford show that one new class will be needed from September 2010, and the council’s proposal is to expand Lionel Primary.
