Mystery Over Laser Quest Sign on Old Morrisons |
|
Building still expected to be converted into a supermarket
April 12, 2024 A banner promoting a new Laser Quest centre at the Old Morrisons store on the High Street in Brentford is causing some confusion. Laser Quest is a British indoor laser tag franchise which runs centres for games which use infrared (IR) hand-held units and vests. It has become a popular leisure activity internationally with competitions being held between teams from different countries. There are existing centres in Hounslow and Feltham. It is suggested that the centre is opening in June but there is no other confirmation of any plans to move into the site. We have contacted Laser Quest to ask for clarification. Cllr Guy Lambert has been speaking to a supermarket operator who is planning to move into the site. There are some outstanding issues including the new tenant’s board giving final approval and technical problems with the rear shutter motor at the back of the building which has prevented it carrying out tests to ensure logistics work smoothly. Cllr Lambert says that he has spoken to a member of staff at L&Q, the building’s owner, who told him, "I have spoken to the supermarket operator and they confirm they have no intention of opening a laser quest, they plan to open the store as quickly as possible. I will try and get the sign removed!" Although the identity of the new tenant remains undisclosed at this stage, Cllr Lambert says it will be a popular choice (although he has ruled out Marks and Spencer). Modifications are planned to the site including changes to the frontage which will require planning permission.
