Bradley Halton was present at riot in Whitehall
August 22, 2024 A tree surgeon and former drug dealer from Brentford has been jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to violent disorder and making racist chants. 28-year-old Bradley Halton of Augustus Close was filmed shouting Islamophobic abuse at police officers at a riot that took place in Whitehall on 31 July. He was attending the ‘Enough is Enough’ rally organised by a far-right activist in response to false claims about the identity of the killer of three young girls in Southport two days earlier. The protestors failed to adhere to police conditions on remaining in an agreed enclosure and move to Parliament Square. When an attempt was made to move them back, officers were greeted with a hail of missiles. Those taking part in the riot can be heard making racist and obscene chants and spitting and swearing at officers. Halton was specifically heard and seen on a police officer’s body cam. He was identified despite wearing a surgical mask and a green tee-shirt wrapped round his face and arrested on 11 August. He initially denied that the person pictured in the footage was him but admitted the offence in court. The footage was played at the hearing at the Inner Crown Court this Tuesday (20 August) showed him shouting comments which the judge described as ‘profoundly offensive.’ He barrister made a plea for mitigation on the basis that his client had not been shown using physical violence or throwing a missile. Halton had previously been imprisoned in 2017 after being found guilty of dealing heroin, cocaine, and crack cocaine in Margate.
