Joanne Harris stole packages from Westgate House in Isleworth
March 8, 2024 A 41-year-old woman has been convicted of four counts of non-residential burglary and failing to surrender to custody. Joanne Harris, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 12 months in prison suspended for 18 months, rehabilitation activity requirement of 25 days and drug rehabilitation requirement for 3 months for drug/alcohol treatment at Uxbridge Magistrates Court on 26 February after pleading guilty. Officers from the Hounslow Central and Hounslow East Neighbourhood Policing Team, after reviewing CCTV following a spate of parcel thefts at Westgate House in Isleworth, identified Harris as a suspect. They found she was gaining access to the building by following residents inside. She was seen to steal parcels on the 3 January and 25 January 2023 to the total value of £97.78. She was located on Hounslow High Street during a plain clothes operation over a month later when she was arrested on suspicion of these offences. It is believed that she may have been responsible for a number of other similar thefts in the area. PC Daniel Cheeseman, Dedicated Ward Officer for Hounslow Central said, “Parcel thefts might seem low level but in the process some individuals are damaging doors to gain access and when within make a mess, they cause general ASB on stairwells and make residents feel less safe.”
