Serious accident in Isleworth - victim named

Police appeal for witnesses after car hits student twice

Police have named the 18 year old student seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Isleworth.

The incident happened at the entrance of Worton Hall Industrial Estate on Worton Road, Isleworth, between midnight and 01:00 on the morning of Friday 28 May 2004.

The 18 year old girl has been named as Kate Sheedy. She remains in a critical condition in Hospital.

Sheedy had been celebrating the completion of A Level exams with friends in Twickenham. She had returned home by bus, and was alone - believed to be crossing the road - at the time of the collision.

She suffered fractures and serious internal injuries, and was taken by ambulance to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Sheedy was Head Girl at her school and on the day of the incident Kate had given a speech at her school leaving service to celebrate the end of school.

The driver of the vehicle, which is described as light in colour, failed to stop after the incident. Police believe that after the vehicle had been in collision with the victim, the driver manoeuvred the vehicle and was in collision with the victim for a second time. The victim was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for the driver of the vehicle to come forward. They also wish to speak with any local hire car companies or repair garages who have had vehicles returned or booked-in with unexplained collision damage.

Anyone who has information that may assist the enquiry should contact the investigation team on 020 8247 6222.
