The Brentford Chamber of Commerce are asking local residents to contribute to the cost of Christmas lights on the High Street this year.

Whilst most of the traders in Brentford High Street have donated and generous donations received from the big companies in the area it was felt that the people of Brentford might like to get involved.

Therefore if you would like to sponsor a light bulb for yourself or a member of your family or anyone in fact pop into the Grand Union Community Development at 191 High Street. Cost of a light bulb will be £10. Most of this charge will go towards the set up costs. However, all individual donators will be advertised in the shop and any other literature publish.

Brentford is the only town centre in the Borough that does not have Christmas lights. The lights run would run from Albany Parade along the High Street. How far they extend would depend on the amount of money raised.

Julia Quilliam of Quilliam's estate agents said, "It's now time that we lift spirits and encourage more trade in the holiday season with an impressive lighting display.
We don't have much time and we need to raise money to be able to acheive our goal. In the first year the cost will be most significant as we need to get the existing lamp posts adapted by the Council and purchase the lights. The Council have agreed to store the lights when not in use but we will need to find our own storage container."
