Hounslow Council planning officers are recommending approval of a development of offices and houses in Isleworth despite a number of objections from residents.

The scheme at the former Isleworth Working Men’s Club at 109 St. John’s Road would see the demolition of the existing buildings and the erection of a three storey commercial building which would include a nursery and six town houses.

There were a number of objections to the scheme including those on the grounds of loss of light and privacy, poor access for visitors to Gumley Gardens and the resulting pressure on parking.

The planners determined that the development would reprovide most of the community space at the site and the existing use was no longer required. They disagreed with objections that the scheme would harm the appearance of the area and said that it would not result in an unacceptable displacement of local car parking as demonstrated by a parking survey.

The application will be considered at a forthcoming meeting of the borough planning committee with councillors making the final decision.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
