Relocation of Grasshoppers Rugby Club |

To Conquest Club, neighbour to Nishkam school
A planning application was submitted at the end of July for the relocation of Grasshoppers Rugby Club to new facilities at the Conequest club. These will include a clubhouse, storage, grounds man's apartment, garage/workshop, three floodlit rugby pitches (two grass, one artificall all-weather), three floodlit netball courts (artificial all-weather), 150 car parking spaces (including nine disabled spaces and two electric charging spaces), 16 covered cycle spaces, fencing and ball netting. The site is on the former White Lodge or Conquest Club next to the Nishkam free school which has been granted planning permission. There will be a shared new entrance off Syon Lane. The existing site is designated Metropolitan Open Land. The clubhouse will be over two floors with earth banked against the ground floor which will contain the changing rooms, the main entrance being to the function room on the first floor. The new facilities will be fully accessible.
Floodlighting will be set to turn off at 10pm. There will be a second building containing storage and a first floor apartment for the groundsman. There will be extra planting on the perimeter to balance the loss of greenery within the site which will be removed for the sports pitches. The roof is not sufficient for solar panels but there is a possibility of using them to form roofs over the car park. There is a historical ditch which will be filled in with material to mark its location. You can view the plans and comment on the application by visiting the planning portal and entering P/2016/3376 as the System number.
