Drop in sessions for carers with Our Barn
Our Barn is offering ar new service that starts on Wednesday 13th January. These drop-in sessions are open to all unpaid family carers or anyone who claims Carers Allowance no matter what age the person they care for. The sessions will be led by BACP qualified psychotherapist, Lesley Beck and Karen Adams. Both have long experience as parents of disabled children and have looked after elderly parents too. Lesley will be concentrating on the emotional wellbeing of carers, and Karen will be adding some practical sessions, including finding information about support services locally. As well as group sessions there will be the opportunity to discuss difficulties on an individual basis. Just come to a session (no appointment necessary). Our Barn will also be working with Hounslow Parent Carers Forum to host a mini conference to inform carers of what they can expect under the new Care Act. Karen adds "As Hounslow residents with around 20 years’ experience of caring each, we will bring our unique ‘service user’ perspective to this project – we have said before that if we haven’t done it ourselves, we know someone who has".
