Northcote

The former Northcote Recreation Ground situated in Northcote Avenue Isleworth which is being transformed into a nature reserve, has finally been designated as a “Village Green”.

Northcote

The Friends of Northcote Nature Reserve (FoNNR) have worked tirelessly to achieve this status since 2015, and it will ensure the future of the site for conservation purposes and as an area for local residents to use and enjoy and also as an educational aid for local schools, nurseries and scout groups, from both Hounslow and neighbouring Richmond.

A phased sequence of the proposed works are currently being procured to commence and complete throughout 2019, coordinating with the changing seasons and habitat sensitivity.

A spokesperson for The Friends committee said that although just getting to this stage has been a long haul, we are grateful for the support of local residents on both sides of The River Crane, All Souls church and especially The Tidal Crane Association. We look forward to building upon those relationships into the future and invite local people to get more involved and hands on as work proceeds. Voluntary input is a vital part of the project and is an opportunity for the community to contribute to and be part of the creation of the nature reserve from its outset.

To become a Friend costs nothing and you will find the membership form on the Friends' website at https://e-voice.org.uk/fonnr/
