March 3, 2023 Metro Archives, a cultural project which seeks to capture the arts and music history of our times is set to be launched at the Musical Museum in Brentford. Along with live music from local RnB band The Hornets, there will be a series of short talks and films from 2.30pm to 6pm on Sunday 19 March. Led by local charity Aurora Metro Arts and Media, best known for commissioning and installing the new bronze statue of Virginia Woolf in Richmond, this event sees the launch of Metro Archives http://www.metroarchives.org a new digital space for the collection of material relating to the arts and culture in and around West and Southwest London. Project leader Ralph Brookfield says: “We invite people to contribute their own films, photographs and memorabilia to the archives. We’re grateful for financial assistance from the Heritage Fund to create this wonderful historical community resource.” Tickets, which cost £5 plus booking fee, also give free entry to the 2.30pm tour of the Musical Museum’s collection of musical objects and memorabilia, which lasts around 45 minutes.
The Museum is open Friday, Saturday & Sunday 10am to 4pm.
