Projects in Brentford and Syon get funding
A number of projects in the Brentford and Syon areas are to receive funding from S106 contributions accumulated by the Council.
S106 contributions are made by developers to mitigate the adverse impacts of development. Hounslow Council currently holds over £13,000,000 of unallocated monies.
February saw the agreement of the next round of spending of S106 funds with the two previous years seeing about £29,000,000 allocated.
Last year saw an invitation to local communities to suggest projects to be funded by S106. This resulted in a community wishlist which was matched to existing S106 agreements, which can be quite prescriptive.
You can download the full list of agreed projects which includes proposer and contact person (Appendix 1) as well as the community wishlist (Appendix 2) for the whole of the borough at the Single Member Decision.

Local resident and prominent historian Janet McNamara has requested that we seek
funding for the restoration of the Brentford Monument outside the Crown Court.
The monument was broken in two and very poorly repaired when it was moved on a
previous occasion. In addition, work is needed on the inscriptions, which originally were
painted to make them easy to read. The paint has worn off and they are now practically
illegible.
Initiative includes public realm
improvements around the monument. |
