With over a thousand pounds raised for charities
This year’s Virgin Money Giving Mini London Marathon saw 1,500 youngsters competing with the London Borough of Hounslow represented by 48 young runners, some of whom had some outstanding results. Team Hounslow finished a fifteenth out of 33 boroughs which was a fantastic achievement by the local athletes. A special mention goes young local residents Charlotte Cooney Quinn who raised over £500 for the British Heart Foundation, Millie and Tomas Giglio who raised £475 for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and Moataz Aljohani who raised £155 for Great Ormond Street Hospital. Rebecca Townsend, from Fusion’s Sports Development Team said: “A huge congratulations goes out to all the young runners who took part, all received a marathon medal, goody bag and finishers t-shirt. We’d like to pass on a huge thank you to all of the runners who represented the London Borough of Hounslow and their family and friends who supported them both in the run up to the event and on the day. We would also like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers who helped out as team managers.” For more information about becoming involved in athletics or other sporting activities in the borough; including representing the London Borough of Hounslow at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games please contact Rebecca Townsend or Chris Jones on 0845 4562856/7, visit the community pages at www.Hounslow-Leisure.com/Community or follow on Twitter @TeamHounslowLYG.
