Gramophone exhibition, children's tours, and a Saturday Tea Dance
Tea Dances Open Day Every Tuesday 25th July to 29th August at 3.30pm Following customer feedback, we are launching a brand new tour aimed at our younger visitors for the summer holidays. An exhibition curated by Michael Ryder, Chairman of The Musical Museum. Currently this is the only collection of gramophones and phonographs in London that can be demonstrated as well as seen. Come and hear them in action. Entry included in standard entry to Museum.
The Musical Museum houses a fascinating collection of self-playing musical instruments and music rolls. The collection tells the story of how people listened to music before the days of microphones and electronics. Discover how music was captured and instruments were powered and experience the sounds and actions of sophisticated reproducing pianos, orchestrations, self-playing violins and the Mighty Wurlitzer cinema organ. The Museum is open on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Bank Holiday Mondays from 11am to 5pm, last entry is at 4pm. Tours with live demonstrations of self playing instruments and the Mighty Wurlitzer take place at 11:30pm, 1:30pm & 3:30pm. The Muscial Museum will close for a Christmas break from December 19th until January 2nd inclusive. We wish all our visitors a very merry Christmas & a prosperous New Year! The Museum is open on any day for groups consisting of 20 people or more. Please contact the museum for further details. The Musical Museum is easily accessible via public transport links. The nearest train station is Kew Bridge on SWT rail. You may take District Line to Gunnersbury, then 237 or 267 bus alighting opposite the Museum. Alternatively, take the Piccadilly Line to South Ealing, and then the 65 bus which passes the Museum. The Museum has a free car park, with limited parking. Admission: Standard entry: £10.00 The museum, concert hall & tea room are available for hire for parties, special events and corporate functions. Discounted rates apply to community & charity hires.
