Unemployed residents in the borough aged over 16 are being offered access to all the help and support they need, to get back into work or to start a new career in a Hounslow Council push on providing impartial advice and guidance to boost employment.

The series of events organised by the Council’s Family First and Intensive Support Service is offering:

  • Careers advice
  • Advice for young people
  • CV workshops
  • Childcare advice
  • Access to employment opportunities
  • Further learning opportunities

A session will take place in Brentford at Brentford Football Club, Griffin Park, Braemar Road, on Wednesday 18 Oct, 11am – 1pm.

Advisors from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), Adults Skills and Learning, Job Centre Plus and the Citizens Trust (Family Works), will also be on hand to offer careers advice, routes into adult learning opportunities and employment.

These organisations work together as part of an employment programme funded through European Social Fund.

There will also be specialist support available from Future Pathways, Connexions and the Youth Service for young people wanting to find out more about apprenticeship opportunities.

The Council’s Early Years team will be on hand to provide advice on child care vouchers for working parents.

Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services and Youth Services, Hounslow Council, said: “Giving our young people the best start to finding a career, getting the skills needed to get a job, is what the Council is committed to.

“These drop-in sessions will provide a chance for young people and older residents across the borough to get that important advice. It will also give them a steer in the right direction that can lead to positive career opportunities now and in the future.”
