First meeting in the new format being held this month
July 14, 2023 The first ever meeting of the Brentford and Syon Area Forum is due to take place later this month. It is taking place at the Brentford Free Church, Boston Manor Road, TW8 8DW on Wednesday 19 July. The new format will begin with a "Marketplace" where you can visit stalls operated by several local organisations and council departments from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Then the formal business of the evening begins. The Area Forums are public meetings attended by ward councillors and council officers which include presentations on matters of local interest. The local area forums have been reorganised with the Brentford and Isleworth areas split. The Isleworth and Brentford Area Forum is being scrapped to be replaced by the Brentford and Syon Area Forum (B&SAF) and the Hounslow South, Isleworth and Osterley & Spring Grove Area Forum (HSIOSGAF). The first meeting of the B&SAF will include a local policing update, a discussion of the problem of nuisance neighbours and a presentation from Cllr Katherine Dunne on how the Lime Bike trial is going. The full agenda can be read here. Brentford Voice had lobbied for the change in the way area forums operated because it believes that the new arrangement will improve the representation of the needs and aspirations of the community in Brentford and Syon. You will have the opportunity at the meeting to raise questions and comments. Alternatively, you can give notice of your question, in advance of the meeting, by emailing your question to William.lee@hounslow.gov.uk (the subject line of your email should be "Question for Area Forum on 19th July").This will give officers and councillors the opportunity to prepare a considered response. Brentford Voice says, “We encourage you to make every effort to attend this first edition of the Forum. There will subsequently be the opportunity for you to make suggestions on how it could better meet your hopes and expectations.”
