Community Donations made last weekend at St Paul's Church
A community donation drive last weekend gathered plenty of food and toiletries to support those in need across the borough. Perishables went straight to Open Kitchen in Hounslow, which provides free meals for the vulnerable. The bulk of donations will be split between Hounslow Community Foodbox , based in Brentford and the Wellness Centre at West Middlesex Hospital. 16 parcels were also prepared to help individuals in the local community. The drive was organised by The Hounslow Covid-19 Mutual Aid Group and thanks go to everyone who helped or brought donations. The donation drive comes as several organisations across the borough become increasingly desperate for food donations. Foodbanks and soup kitchens have been inundated with requests for help since the pandemic lockdown began several weeks ago- Hounslow’s Community FoodBox has seen deliveries go from 80 per month to over 200 in a single week. If you are interested in volunteering, or know someone in the area who is in need, you can contact the group via its Facebook page here.
