The latest business to move into Brentford’s regenerated town centre is Specsavers.

It has taking up the unit at 117 High Street in the newly developed parade of retail outlets on the south side.

The branch’s store directors welcomed in residents as they showed off the very latest in-store design and diagnostic testing equipment.

The Brentford store is headed up by optometrist and retail directors Tajinder Dhiman, Sim Gujral and Arjun Varma, the same team that already runs Specsavers Hounslow.

They have been on a recruitment drive over the last few months and appointed a store manager, two pre-registration trainee optometrists and four members of the customer service team.

Customers can choose to have an OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) 3D scan, which Specsavers describes as hospital-grade, advanced diagnostic, eye-scanning equipment that helps detect several eye conditions, including glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. It can detect eye conditions up to four years ahead of them presenting via a standard eye test.

The OCT scan uses light to take more than 1,000 images of the back of the eye and beyond, looking at the optic nerve and creating a cross-sectional view. The optometrist can then store the customer’s OCT images and monitor for any changes over time, which is a real benefit to overall eye health.

Tajinder Dhiman says, ‘We have been really looking forward to opening our doors to the people of Brentford and getting to know everyone. It’s an exciting time as the area has undergone rapid change over the last five years.

‘We look forward to being part of the community and providing excellent eye and hearing care to residents and businesses.’

As part of the store launch you can book a £10 sight test on its website.
