Brentford Scout Hut Threatened with Closure |

Crowdfunding appeal launched to get hall back to usable condition The scout hut on Willow Close, Brentford
The scout hut that was the home of the 6th Brentford Air Scout Group faces closure unless funds can be found to make it usable again. The group has not been meeting since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020 meaning that no income has been coming in. There is a lot of work needed on the hut on Willow Close, just off Church Walk so a crowdfunding appeal has been launched to provide funds for refurbishment. At the time of writing over £1,000 of the £6,000 target had been raised. Applications have been made to fund the work through grants but these have been rejected. The group has been active in Brentford for nearly a century and it leases the site off Hounslow Council. It is feared that if it is unable to resume activities the lease will lapse and the hut will be redeveloped into housing. Before the pandemic 6th Brentford had thriving Beaver, Cub and Scout sections, catering for girls and boys between the ages of 6-14 years.
