Parking in Brentford Reduced Due To Extended Bus Lane Operation |
|
Bays on the High Street no longer available during the day
Hounslow Council have synchronised parking restrictions on Brentford High Street with new bus lane operating hours. As part of an experimental measure taken in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak the bus lane through the centre of Brentford is active from 7am – 7pm Monday to Sunday. Previously it had only operated from 7am -10am Monday to Friday. This means that the bays opposite Barclays Bank that were installed to encourage trade in the centre of town will now no longer be allowed to be used for parking from 7am to 7pm. They run from 209 High Street to 203 High Street. The operating hours of the bus lane on London Road, Isleworth have also been extended from 7am to 7pm every day meaning that parking is restricted there at those times as well. The change to the waiting restrictions will be in place for a minimum of 6 months, after which the hours will be reviewed to determine if they should be made permanent. Additional loading restrictions are also being considered. The notice of the changes was published on 29 June and the order came into force on Thursday 9 July.
The council has previously amended all bus lanes across the borough to either 24/7 operation of 7am to 7pm and is now issuing these orders to allow enforcement of parking restrictions during the amended hours.
