Alternative premises being sought to ensure 'minimal break in services'
The Post Office have confirmed that their branch on Brentford High Street is to close at the end of this year. They say that the decision has been taken due to the resignation of the local postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises at 102-3 Brentford High Street for use as a post office. The postmaster has told customers that he is seeking alternative premises. There is significant local concern about the move as the nearest alternative post office is a 20 minute bus ride away. The local post office also serves as a bank for many local people particularly the elderly and after the closure of Nat West it will add to the loss of banking services in the area. A Post Office Spokesperson said: "We can confirm that Brentford Post Office is due to close at the end of December 2018. This is due to the resignation of the postmaster and the premises being withdrawn for Post Office use. We would like to reassure customers that the Post Office is committed to maintaining a service in the area and will work hard to ensure there is a minimal break in service. We are seeking alternative premises for the post office so local retailers interested in this business opportunity should contact us on 0333 345 5560 or email NTquestions@postoffice.co.uk” Hounslow Council leader Steve Curran said, “Our officers have spoken to the Post Office franchisee to ask whether we can help in finding an alternative site, to date we have not had a response. I have now asked our officers to formally write to the franchisee to offer our help again in finding another suitable site and to arrange a meeting to discuss. “ January 27, 2020 |
