Detectives investigating the murder of Darren Augustine in Brentford earlier this year are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man they wish to speak in connection with the case.
44-year-old Darren, a father of two, was stabbed to death in Brentwick Gardens, TW8 in the early hours of 26 April. He pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics to save him. A post-mortem examination found cause of death to be stab wounds to the chest and abdomen.
The police have now confirmed that he was involved in an attempted burglary at a flat on the road and that the man pictured was with him at the time.
Ten people who were in the flat, seven men and three women of ages ranging from mid-teens to early sixties, were arrested on suspicion of murder during the initial stages of this investigation. All have been released with no further action and continue to assist the police.
A 28-year-old man was arrested on Monday, 1 May on suspicion of Darren’s murder and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in early August.
Detective Inspector Jason Fitzpatrick from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said, “My team continues to work tirelessly to piece together the facts about what happened in the early hours of 26 April and the events that culminated in Darren’s death.
“CCTV analysis has confirmed this man was with Darren and attended the flat in Brentwick Gardens – we need to know who he is and I would urge anyone who knows his identity to come forward and speak to police.”
