Hounslow Community Foodbox has taken delivery of some Easter hampers to be distributed to the borough’s most vulnerable residents over the holidays

Removal company Alexanders joined forces with Brentford Football Club to help provide support for those in need during Easter.

On Saturday 10 April, 160 Hampers were packed at the new Alexanders warehouse in Heathrow ready to be delivered throughout Hounslow. A team of volunteers including Guy Lambert, Brentford Councillor and Cabinet Member for Highways, Recycling and Trading Companies ensured that each individual package catered to the unique dietary requirements of every recipient.

Each hamper contained weekly food for either a family or a single resident alongside Easter eggs and treats. Children received books, colouring books and a variety of souvenirs provided by Brentford Football Club including squad photos and Premier League flags.

Hounslow Community Foodbox Treasurer, Philip Jones, who helped pack the hampers said, "It’s wonderful that with the strong support of Alexanders Removals & Storage and Brentford FC, we will be able to provide 500 adults and children in Hounslow with some special treats this Easter - food, chocolates, gifts for children, spring flowers. With so many struggling to put food on the table it really is a pleasure to be able to give some extra help at this time of year."

Alex Pope, director of Alexanders Removals & Storage, said, “I am glad that our Easter giveaway event in partnership with Foodbox and Brentford Club went exceptionally well, and I am positive our hamper baskets will bring this week joy to so many people. All of us together, local businesses and organisations, can bring a positive contribution to the community. It was also an enjoyable day spent in the company of friends and family, big and small, an important lesson in generosity taught to the next generation.”

Jon Burr, Brentford FC Community Manager added “Brentford FC is happy to continue its support of the Hounslow Foodbox and their work with Alexanders to deliver hampers this Easter to those in need in the Hounslow area. Are small gifts included in the hampers will hopefully bring some extra joy to children and adults receiving them.

Alexanders was recently named ‘West London Company of the Year’ and won the ‘Community Investment Award’ at the West London Business Awards.
