Brentford Dock Residents Raise Over £700 |

For local charity React which supports children with life-limiting illnesses
Fundraising fever has swept the residents of Brentford Dock, who organised no less than three charity events in the past two months in aid of local children’s charity, React. React is a small charity which provides rapid support for terminally ill children through the provision of basic, essential equipment and aid. Their support ranges from specialist items such as wheelchairs, trikes and car seats, to basic household essentials like washing machines, bedding and clothing. Most recently, the residents staged a Burns Night supper in celebration of legendary Scottish poet Robert Burns, and feasted on traditional Scottish staples such as neeps, tatties and of course, the mighty haggis. The meal was preceded by an authentic reading of the Selkirk Grace from one of the dock’s Scottish residents. The evening raised £300 and follows Brentford Dock’s two previous events, including a Christmas party and table top sale. In total, the group raised a fantastic £720 for React families. These events demonstrated a fine showing of community spirit from all involved. React said “We are thrilled to be supported by such an enthusiastic and creative local community group. It is wonderful to see so many friends and neighbours from Brentford Dock come together to make these events a success and the funds raised will do much for children living with a life shortening illness. Thank you to Leigh Jennings and the events team!” For more information about the work carried out about React (registered charity 802440), or to make a donation, please visit the website at reactcharity.org.
