Air Quality Brentford want volunteers to help green Market Square
After a number of false starts, a community planting project organised by Air Quality Brentford is set to begin this weekend. Originally it was intended that the Brentford Market Square container planting project would go ahead in March this year, however there was a supply issue with the steel, an early sign of the disruption to come. The rearranged date for April was subsequently also cancelled due to lockdown and the unprecedented situation we found ourselves in with Covid-19. With life slowly emerging, the organisers now plan to carry out this project on the morning of Saturday 8 August. The containers have been in storage in Somerset, where they were made, and need delivering. They’ve been keeping the plants for the project in their gardens and they need to be re-homed in their new containers and most of all enjoyed for the summer at Market Square. While it was originally intended to be a completely open event for everyone to partake in, however there are still government restrictions in place regarding gatherings and the organisers want to keep everyone safe. If anyone would like to help email: airqualitybrentford@hotmail.com. Any donations towards the cost of the plants would be gratefully received and can be made to their bank account: Air Quality Brentford This project is part of the campaign to #MakeBrentfordGreener, it’s been funded by Hounslow Council and is in association with our London National Park City.
